I love fall! The pumpkins...the cooler weather (in Texas)...the pumpkin spice lattes...boots! This time of year, there are so many fun, family friendly activities in the Temple area. I know my kids look forward to the festivities, and we make so many new memories each year. If you are looking for a few suggestions, I thought I would share some with you.
Every year, we go to the Silo Christmas Tree Farm on McGregor Park Rd. for the pumpkin patch. You can go any Saturday or Sunday in October. They ask for either a small monetary donation or even a food donation (grab some of those unused canned goods!) for admission, to benefit the Helping Hands Ministry. My kids love going. They have a variety of activities, including a tractor hay ride, a maze, pumpkin painting, a petting zoo, pony rides, and other fun games. Each activity costs anywhere from 2 to 5 tickets, and the tickets are only $1 a piece. You can even buy your jack-o-lantern for the season or a pumpkin to make that pumpkin pie. Temple Bible Church also has a fall festival that we attend. It is open to the public, and admission is free! They serve hotdogs, Sno-Cones, etc. Kids usually dress up in their costumes. There are bouncy houses, games, treats, etc. This year, the festival will be on Wednesday, October 29th from 6 to 8 pm.
One more event we attend every year is the First Baptist Church Temple "Trunk or Treat" in the FBC parking lot on Halloween. Members of the church surround the perimeter of the parking lot with their cars, open up their trunks, decorate them, and a TON of candy is donated to fill these trunks. Trick-or-treaters from all over town come and walk the parking lot, and get a bag filled with treats, without having to go to a crowded mall or knocking or some stranger's door.
There are many more local activities, but these are the ones that my family return to each year. My kids are safe, we have a great time and make new memories. If you are in the area, give some of these a try...Happy Fall Y'all!
